“Plain sev – roz ka, hamesha ka. Iske bina koi snack complete nahi.”
Our Plain Sev is made from fine chickpea flour with minimal seasoning – just salt and a touch of ajwain – pressed into thin strands and fried fresh in pure groundnut oil. Light, crispy, neutral flavour. The most versatile namkeen in the kitchen.
Plain sev is not a snack people usually think about until it is missing. Then they notice. Good plain sev should be light, not oily, with a clean chickpea flavour and a consistent crunch. Ours is all of that.
What is plain sev used for?
Everywhere. On top of poha and upma, in bhel puri, as a chaat topping, in sandwiches, in dabeli, in dahi puri. Also eaten straight as a light snack with chai. Plain sev is one of the most fundamental ingredients in Indian snack cooking – a kitchen staple, not just a packet snack.
How is thin sev different from thick sev or bhujia?
Thin sev is pressed through a fine-holed plate and is the lightest, most delicate variety. Bhujia contains potato and is slightly thicker. Thick sev (like gathiya) is pressed through a larger hole and is denser. Plain thin sev is the most neutral and versatile of the three.

In Bhel Puri
A key ingredient in homemade bhel. Adds the right crunch.
Party Snack Bowl
Mix with other namkeen for an instant party snack bowl.

Travel and Office
Light, non-messy, satisfying. A great desk snack.
Pro tip
Make quick bhel at home by mixing plain sev with puffed rice, chopped onion, tomato, coriander, tamarind chutney and green chutney. Add a pinch of chaat masala. Ready in 5 minutes. Better than most bhel you buy outside.
Storage tip
Store in a cool dry place. Keep the pack sealed tightly after opening. Consume within 3 weeks of opening for best crunch. Do not store in the fridge - moisture will make namkeen lose crispness.
Plain Sev is the namkeen that most people do not think about until it is missing from the kitchen. Good plain sev should be light, not oily, with a clean chickpea flavour and consistent crunch. Ours is fried fresh in small batches in pure groundnut oil with minimal seasoning. No palm oil, no flavour enhancers. Just besan, ajwain, salt and clean oil. The most elemental namkeen we make - and the one where the quality of our process is most visible.
