Chana Dal, Pink Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Groundnut Oil
“Chana dal namkeen – chunky, hearty, satisfying. Serious snacking.”
Our Chana Dal Namkeen is made from split chickpeas soaked overnight, dried and fried fresh in pure groundnut oil with a moderately spiced masala coating. Chunky, deeply crunchy and much more hearty than moong dal or besan sev. This is the most filling namkeen in our range.
The natural protein content of chana dal makes this a particularly satisfying snack. One handful genuinely holds you over until the next meal. High in fibre too.
How is chana dal different from moong dal namkeen?
Chana dal is thicker, denser and crunchier than moong dal. The chickpea has a heartier, more substantial texture and a more pronounced earthy flavour. The masala in chana dal namkeen is also slightly more assertive. Overall a more substantial snack – you eat fewer pieces but feel more satisfied.
Is it high in protein?
Yes. Split chickpeas are naturally very high in protein and dietary fibre – higher than almost any other snack base ingredient. If you are looking for a snack that genuinely keeps you satisfied rather than just providing empty calories, chana dal is one of the better traditional Indian options.

Pro tip
Soak a handful of chana dal namkeen in water for 5 minutes and toss with onion, tomato, chilli and lemon juice for an instant chaat. The softened dal is excellent in this format.
Storage tip
Store in a cool dry place. Keep the pack sealed tightly after opening. Consume within 3 weeks of opening for best crunch. Do not store in the fridge - moisture will make namkeen lose crispness.
Chana Dal Namkeen is the most filling product in our namkeen range. The overnight soaking step is what most commercial producers skip because it adds time - but it is what gives properly made chana dal its characteristic dense satisfying crunch. Split chickpeas soaked overnight, dried and fried fresh in pure groundnut oil. High protein, high fibre. One handful keeps you going significantly longer than any potato-based snack.
